Transitional Living

Many youth aging out of foster care at the young age of 18 are ill-equipped to adjust to life on their own. When young adults are unprepared for the responsibilities of independent living they are at risk for homelessness. In order to combat these issues, RMYA created the TurningPoint Transitional Living Program designed to help young adults who have aged out of foster care, are currently in extended foster care, or are experiencing homelessness. The program provides the critical life skill support these young adults need to learn to thrive on their own independently.

RMYA has professional case management staff who provide job and life skills training, educational assistance, and resource referrals. In addition, weekly therapeutic counseling services are provided for residents. The goal is to help young adults learn to meet their daily living and life goals so that they can live successfully on their own.

Transition

After achieving key life skill objectives and goals, RMYA works to transition young adults into their own housing. RMYA helps them find an affordable apartment and provides on-going transitional case management services for three months after departure.
