Up to seventy children at a time live at the RMYA Meadowland campus – a private, 40-acre respite in Boerne, Texas. Most of these children come from abusive and neglectful homes. RMYA’s goal is to help heal their trauma by providing a safe, structured environment combined with comprehensive therapeutic treatment.
COUNSELING
On-staff licensed counselors are assigned to each child resident at Meadowland. The counselors are trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help children deal with anger management, PTSD, separation anxiety, and sexual abuse.
Life Skills
Children participate in life skills training while at Meadowland. RMYA's goal is to provide children with life functioning tools to manage daily challenges. For the older youth, RMYA provides life skill classes on how to cook, grocery shop, manage finances, wash clothes, manage their home, and fill out job applications. The goal is to help children survive and thrive in the real world.
On-Site Education
Because many of children come to RMYA from traumatic backgrounds, attending the regular public school is too difficult. RMYA provides a fully accredited on-campus charter school, Oaks Academy, for children living at Meadowland.
