Our volunteers come from various places, including interns and practicum students from local universities and colleges; church groups, civic clubs, business organizations and other groups. RMYA has approximately 300-400 core volunteers – 100 individuals and about 30 groups – who volunteer on a regular basis. We have approximately 50 individual volunteers that serve as mentors or tutors or participate in a wide variety of activities with our youth, including many different life skills classes.Volunteering at RMYA is an opportunity for you to change the day in the life of a child and give them something to look forward to. Our youth need to engage in positive activities and have new experiences to help promote future success. They can do that by the rapport you build with them while volunteering. We need creative, active and optimistic volunteers that can share their enthusiasm for life with our children. You may do this as an individual or get your group involved, by contacting Diana Gonzales, our Director of Volunteer Services. To speak with Ms. Gonzales and to learn more about becoming a volunteer, you can reach her at: Phone (210) 340-8077 extension 1300, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
