RMYA History

In 1976 Catholic Family and Children's Services and the San Antonio Urban Council applied for and received a grant from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now Health and Human Services) under the "Runaway Act". They were awarded the grant and Roy Maas was hired as Executive Director. Roy opened "The Bridge Emergency Shelter" with a budget of $100,000 for 16 boys..

Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives Foundation

The children we have served since 1976 and the children we serve today have been blessed to have an agency that they can rely on for help. That agency is Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives...

RMYA Board of Directors

RMYA's Board of Directors is a volunteer, fundraising board with approximately thirty members at large.  Board members must have the ability and knowledge to set policy and approve programs that become the basis for operating the agency.  The role of  a board member sets the standard for quality programming, which will in turn pave the way for successful and productive futures in the lives of the children we serve.   Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month, ten times per year.

Continuous Quality Improvement Program

The goal of Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives' (RMYA) Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program is to continually promote and enhance the quality of services being provided by monitoring RMYA's timeliness, appropriateness and adequacy.  RMYA revises policies and/or operational procedures, personnel assignments, personnel training, contracts, and programs according to recommendation of the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.

Continuous Quality Improvement emphasizes improvement by:
- Using reliable and valid methods to study our practices,
- Basing improvement plans on data, and
- Seeking improvement in service delivery at both the service level and across the organization as a whole.
